The American Legion offers a number of scholarships and other resources to assist young people in their pursuit of higher education. Each year, the Legion facilitates the awarding of millions of dollars in scholarships to high school students. There are opportunities for everyone, including kin of wartime veterans and participants in Legion programs. The Legion also publishes a valuable resource in “Need a Lift?” – a comprehensive guide to seeking and obtaining scholarships.

2018 Scholarship Opportunities.
A scholarship fund has been developed and designed by the American Legion Post 1271 to support students that have graduated from Sugar Grove area High Schools that are currently pursueing an education beyond high school.
Since our charter in 1964, our American Legion Post has been welcoming VETERANS from all branches of our Armed Forces. Today, we continue to welcome all military personnel serving our country. Joining our Post enables you to continue serving your God, Country and Community. Our mission is to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and blessings for our country, friends and families embodied in our preamble.
Two scholarships, valued at $3000.00 each, will be awarded to assist a graduate of Sugar Grove area High School in his/her pursuit of a degree from a two or four-year accredited college, university, or trade school. This award will be given to a student that graduates from Sugar Grove area High School in 2018.
A special committee appointed by the members of the American Legion Post 1271, will choose the scholarship recipient utilizing information in the application, academic records, and contents of the written essay.
